I assume everyone has seen this by now. The question is - is this just an easter egg, or a true connection between Lost and Cloverfield?

I would hope it is just an easter egg. One of the things that really bugged me about Stephen Kings books in the late 90s/early 2000s is that every damn book had a Wasteland connection. I loved the Wasteland, but all the darn connections just felt contrived.
