Kings - did you like it?

I have to admit - I really, really enjoyed Kings. Maybe it's the Alt-History buff in me, maybe it's the fact that I've been a huge fan of Ian McShane since Deadwood, but the series really worked well for me. For alt-history fans, I think there was a lot to be curious about here. The show dropped a very obvious "marker" that this Earth - the use of music from Liszt and the direct mention of his name. I took from that clue that whatever changed in this timeline happened in the early twentieth century - perhaps specifically in the European continent. Certainly it is clear the Kingdon (Gilboa) occupies American soil - but probably not all of it. I also found it interesting how we saw so little of the enemy and how David asks if they are truly so different from them. It alludes to some vast cultural divide between the Kingdoms. Well, not sure if the other enemies (early on they mention 2 enemies I believe) are Kingdoms - they mentioned the title of the leader of Gath, but I can't remember it offhand. It was definitely not King though. Either way - fun show. It is on my auto-record list. Anyone else enjoy it?

Non-Geek shows hit 9k Episodes

This will probably get me booted off the blog, but I had to share. One of my favorite shows (I watch it 5 times a week), just hit its 9000th episode. Yes, 9000. As in 8900 more than 100 episodes. What was the show? The Young and the Restless Yes, it's only a dumb soap opera, but hey, 9000 episodes is still pretty cool. Although you would think they would give them more than cake. YandR is also one of the few new shows being presented in full length over on YouTube.

Well looks like one of our favorite movies growing up is being remade.

Screenwriter Carl Ellsworth has been hired to recraft the ultimate homeland invasion story about a new generation of besieged high schoolers.
Dan Bradley, a second unit director and/or stunt coordinator on "The Bourne Ultimatum," "Spider-Man 3" and the forthcoming "Quantum of Solace," will move into the director's chair for the update. Contrafilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson will produce.

I can see him in the red suit and think he would be a good choice. What are your thoughts?

Knight Rider is returning this Sunday at 8pm CST with Val Kimer providing the voice for K.I.T.T.
High hopes but I'm not sure about this trend of remakes. BSG excluded, what recent remakes would you say are better than the originals and what old shows would you like to see remade? Suggestions:

Cloverfield/Lost Connection

I assume everyone has seen this by now. The question is - is this just an easter egg, or a true connection between Lost and Cloverfield? I would hope it is just an easter egg. One of the things that really bugged me about Stephen Kings books in the late 90s/early 2000s is that every damn book had a Wasteland connection. I loved the Wasteland, but all the darn connections just felt contrived. Watch JJ slip in a Dharma symbol onto a screen on the Enterprise.
